Allyson Latta

Allyson Latta has worked with many of Canada’s most respected authors, editing nominees and winners of the country’s top literary prizes, as well as the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and the Man Booker Prize. She also edits for publishers in the Caribbean. She teaches a credit course in memoir writing for University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies, and in February 2010 she will be editor-in-residence at Los Parronales Writers’ Retreat in Chile.

Allyson graduated from Carleton University’s School of Journalism, and holds a degree in criminology, as well as a certificate from the University of Western Ontario’s Economics Program for Journalists. She has been a newspaper reporter, associate editor for Quarry literary journal, associate editor/features writer for Ottawa Magazine, and for three years taught English in southern Japan. Allyson was a judge in U of T Magazine’s 2009 short fiction competition, and is a consultant for the Words Alive Literary Festival.
