Canadian author Martin Avery, B.A., B.Ed., M.F.A. in Writing, was Writer in Residence at the Pickering Public Library for four years, and at the Bracebridge Public Library before that. He had four books of short fiction published by Oberon Press before the age of 30, and they earned great reviews across Canada and abroad. He recently won the Most Prolific Poet Award at the Scugog Poetry Marathon.
Martin was a founder and leader of A Novel Marathon, in Owen Sound; the Muskoka Novel Marathon, at the Huntsville Festival of the Arts; and the Great Canadian Winter Novel Marathon. His book The Zen Forest has recently become a best-seller. He also teaches Zen meditation and Qigong in the "Zen Power Hour".
Martin Avery was a Blue Pencil Editor at the Ontario Writers' Conference 2010.
